21.07.10 Synergy announces operational results for the first half of 2010 and 8% sales volume growth

OJSC “Synergy” (RTS/MICEX: SYNG), one of the leading distilled spirits producers in Russia, announces today that the Company’s sales volume for the first half of 2010 increased by 8% comparing to the same period last year ^(*).

For the first six months of 2010 Synergy’s sales volume amounted 4.586 million decaliters  that is 8% more than 4.247 million decaliters reported for the same period last year.

The main growth driver for 1H 2010 remains an increase in sales of key priority brands supported by new distribution strategy launched in the second half of 2009. For the first half of 2010 sales of BELUGA, the leader in the Super-Premium price segment in Russia increased by 48%, sales of Maygkov brand that represents Synergy in the Sub-Premium price segment grew by 16% and Belenkaya, Synergy’s mainstream brand sales raised by 44% in volume. 

According to Rosstat agency, 46.115 million decaliters of legally produced vodka were sold in Russia in 1H 2010 which is 1% more than 45.626 million decaliters sold in 1H 2009.

Commenting on the operational results, Chief Executive Officer of Synergy, Alexander Mechetin noted:  “Our operational results for the first half of 2010 indicate positive implementation of new distribution strategy that we started in the second half of last year. We continue to deliver strong operational performance ahead of the market growth even during low season. In general, I am satisfied with our first half results and consider positive dynamics is a sign of improving recognition of Synergy’s key brands. I would like to emphasize the improvement of brand mix of our sales towards more premium federal brands.”
